Amphibious plane, Shipborne UAV to Join Military Fleet

Mahindra signed an MoU with ShinMaywa Industries Limited, Japan, to manufacture and assemble the US-2 amphibious aircraft in the country. Mahindra will also set up MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) units for the aircraft. The MoU has come at a time when India and Japan are discussing the methodology for the procurement of US-2 by the Indian Navy.

DRDO handed over first indigenous heavy weight torpedo Varunastra to Indian Navy at DEFEXPO 2018. the DRDO also transferred 10 technologies developed by it to the industry for production for the Indian Armed Forces. They include grenades, missiles and sonars.

DRDO Showcases Guided Variant of Pinaka Mk II Rocket

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) showcased a guided version of the indegenously developed 214 mm Pinaka Mk II rocket at the Defexpo 2018 in Chennai. Defence Corridor in Tamil Nadu to Produce Russian Spares

A defence industrial corridor is proposed in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the corridor will produce Russian spares by entering into a joint venture between Russian firms and Indian vendors. It is estimated that local production of these crucial parts will cut down the cost by 400 percent to 2,000 percent.
