Adani Defence has secured a five-year export deal for artillery shells, solidifying its position in the global ammunition market while enhancing India’s role in the defense supply chain. The company’s Kanpur facility, one of South Asia’s largest, plans to double its small arms ammunition production to 300 million rounds annually by 2025 and has begun producing 155mm artillery shells with significant export bookings. While prioritizing exports to meet rising global demand, Adani has also committed to reserving 33% of its artillery production for the Indian armed forces, reinforcing national security and self-reliance in defense manufacturing amid geopolitical tensions. This initiative promises economic growth and job creation in Uttar Pradesh.

DRDO Successfully Trials of Long-Range Glide Bomb

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted Release Trials of the Long-Range Glide Bomb (LRGB) Gaurav from the Su-30 MKI aircraft, demonstrating a range close to 100 km with pinpoint accuracy. This 1,000 kg class glide bomb, developed indigenously, involved collaboration with industry partners like Adani Defence Systems & Technologies and Bharat Forge. The trials are a significant step towards the weapon’s induction into the Indian Air Force (IAF), enhancing the armed forces’ capabilities. Government officials, including Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, praised the successful trials, highlighting their importance in India’s defense strategy and self-reliance in military technology.

Adani Defence to Produce R-74E ‘Raya’ Missile, Boosting IAF Readiness

Adani Defence and Aerospace has been selected to locally manufacture the R-74E air-to-air missile, referred to as Raya in India, potentially enhancing the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) capabilities. This missile is part of a modernization effort to replace the ageing R-73E, which has been a crucial component of the IAF’s arsenal, especially during the 2019 India-Pakistan conflict. The R-74E boasts advanced features such as high off- boresight capability and thrust vectoring, positioning it as a competitive alternative to Western missiles. UP Govt, Adani Group ink MoU to build ammunition manufacturing complex

The Government of Uttar Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the eve of Global Investors’ Summit in Lucknow to set up South Asia’s largest integrated manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.

In his address at the UP summit, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group highlighted the importance of having self-reliance in high quality ammunition and the manufacturing complex is Adani Defence’s endeavour towards equipping our Armed Forces with state-of-the-art battlefield equipment.

Speaking on the eve of the signing of the MoU, CEO, UP Expressways & Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and Additional Chief Secretary, Awanish Kumar Awasthi, said this project is going to prove as a landmark in the history of indigenous defence manufacturing.

Giving more details about the plans to build South Asia’s largest manufacturing facility, Ashish Rajvanshi, President & CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, said, “With our vision of nation-building combined with the clarion call of Atmanirbhar Bharat by PM Narendra Modi, we are setting up South Asia’s largest integrated ammunition complex in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor. The ammunition complex will have state-of-the-art technology across small and medium calibre ammunition, along with short-range air defence missiles. It shall be a key facilitator in India’s goal of achieving $5.0 billion exports in defence manufacturing.”

The complex, which is spread over 250+ acres and an investment of around 1,500Cr is slated to have state-of-the-art technology across small and medium calibre ammunition, along with short-range air defence missiles.

There are plans to hire around 1,500 people, who will use the best-in-class technologies to manufacture high-quality ammunition for domestic and export markets.
