Indo-Pacific

The Indo-Pacific region produces headlines more often today than 10 years ago as a rising China, a defiant United States, and a host of other regional actors in the ongoing Indo-Pacific define the politics of the region. China’s rise and territorial assertiveness and an emerging grouping to counter China’s moves has led to United States’ renewed importance to the Indo-Pacific by a significant renaming of the U.S. Pacific Command to the Indo-Pacific command. In this region Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia,Thailans, Australia all are affected and the region is seeing some open tensions.
