Indian Air Chief Amar Preet Singh and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh have downplayed the idea of a current F-35A offer to India, despite a Lockheed Martin insider suggesting a formal briefing is being organized for IAF leadership. If India commits to a substantial order of around 110 units, Lockheed Martin may reconsider its stance on local production, possibly establishing a Final Assembly and Check-out (FACO) facility in India. This could position India among the top operators of the F-35 outside the U.S., aligning with strategic U.S. interests and enhancing India’s defense capabilities significantly.
