The Indian Air Force (IAF) is advocating for the development of an autonomous counter-swarm drone system to counter increasing threats posed by long- range drones to critical installations. This versatile, tube-launched system is designed for deployment from various platforms, ensuring extensive coverage even in high-altitude regions like Ladakh. By integrating with the IAF’s existing air defense infrastructure, the system aims for cost-effective, efficient neutralization of drone threats, whether through kinetic or non-kinetic methods. This initiative aligns with a global military trend recognizing the need for advanced counter-drone technologies, especially given recent incidents highlighting the vulnerabilities of vital infrastructure to drone attacks.
