India is set to assemble 21 MQ-9B Predator drones, marking a significant advancement in its defense modernization efforts and strengthening ties with the US amid regional security challenges from China and Pakistan. This agreement includes establishing a local assembly facility, enhancing India’s intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities while promoting domestic defense manufacturing through technology transfer. The Indian Navy will acquire 15 Sea Guardian variants, while the Army and Air Force will each receive eight Sky Guardian drones, expected to be operational within two to three years. This initiative aligns with India’s vision for self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing and job creation within the sector.
