
An Indian Army soldier, Hawaldar Varinder Singh, has innovatively developed a versatile Octacopter drone capable of combat, surveillance, and payload delivery, aligning with India’s Atmanirbharta initiative. This 35 kg drone features real-time video capabilities, autonomous flight, and can carry weapons such as AK-47s and grenade launchers, demonstrating the spirit of jugaad. It has already proven its operational credibility in recent military exercises and disaster relief missions. Singh’s achievement has been recognized with the Vishisht Seva Medal, underscoring the importance of indigenous innovation in enhancing India’s defense capabilities while reducing reliance on foreign systems.
