Russia has presented India with a promising opportunity to manufacture the fifth-generation Su-57E fighter jet using existing infrastructure from the Su-30MKI production. This includes technology transfer, joint production capabilities, and support for India’s own Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program. The Su-57E, showcased at Aero India 2025, boasts advanced stealth and super-manoeuvrability, though its stealth capabilities are slightly inferior to American models like the F-35. Notably, the Su-57E is positioned as a cost-effective alternative, with a unit price significantly lower than the F-35. This offer underscores India’s strategic intent to bolster its indigenous defense capabilities while considering the geopolitical dynamics with Russia and the U.S. However, the Indian government has yet to officially respond, which leaves the future of this deal uncertain.
