The DRDO has showcased key components of the K-5 Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM), indicating significant advancements in India’s strategic underwater capabilities. With a range of 6,000-8,000 km, the K-5 will enhance India’s nuclear triad and second-strike capability, allowing it to target adversaries, including all of China, from its coastal waters. The missile features a three-stage, solid-fueled design and is set for deployment on the advanced S-4 submarines, which will have a greater missile capacity than previous models.
