India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has commenced captive flight trials for its Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) precision-guided bomb system aboard the IAF’s Jaguar aircraft, significantly enhancing India’s deep- strike capabilities. TARA features advanced guidance systems and a range of variants (TARA 250, 450, and 500) designed for various strike scenarios with high accuracy, achieving a Circular Error Probable of under 3 meters. This development underscores India’s growing prowess in precision munitions, aiming to ensure effectiveness even in contested environments while remaining beyond the reach of enemy air defenses. Successful trials will lead to live drop tests, further validating this sophisticated addition to the IAF arsenal.
