Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) is making significant strides in India’s maritime defense capability, recently completing its first Diving Support Vessel (DSV), “Nistar,” which showcases advanced technologies and positions India as a potential naval exporter. The shipyard, which has transitioned from building simpler vessels to sophisticated platforms, is on track to achieve mini ratna status, bolstered by a robust order book, including five Fleet Support Ships for the Indian Navy. With a remarkable increase in revenue, HSL’s transformation is attributed to strategic management initiatives and expanded vendor collaborations, enhancing its operational capacity and contribution to the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. This evolution strengthens India’s maritime self-reliance and supports its geopolitical objectives in the Indo-Pacific region.
