IIT Madras has licensed innovative Quadrotor Bi-Plane Tailsitter UAV technology to Tunga Aerospace, marking a pivotal advancement in India’s indigenous aerospace capabilities. This UAV, designed for dual vertical takeoff and forward flight, enhances efficiency in surveillance, making it suitable for defense and civilian applications. The agreement reflects a commitment to self-reliance in defense, aligning with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. Tunga Aerospace will lead the commercialization of this cutting-edge technology, which addresses challenges in UAV versatility and adaptability, underscoring the importance of industry- academia collaboration in realizing practical solutions for critical sectors like border security and disaster management.
