India has successfully completed the world’s highest 3D printed military bunker at an altitude of 11,000 feet in Ladakh, through Project PRABAL, led by Simpliforge Creations and IIT Hyderabad in collaboration with the Indian Army. This innovative structure was constructed in just five days, utilizing a custom-engineered concrete mix designed to withstand extreme high-altitude conditions, including low oxygen and sub-zero temperatures. The project exemplifies the effective partnership between academia and industry, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in additive manufacturing and rapid infrastructure deployment in challenging environments. It marks a significant advancement in defense preparedness, establishing a precedent for future applications of 3D printing technology in military infrastructure and potential off- world construction projects, demonstrating India’s resolve to leverage cutting-edge technology in strengthening its strategic capabilities.
