The Indian Ministry of Defence has granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the procurement of a 105 mm/ 37 Calibre Mounted Gun System, aimed at enhancing the Indian Army’s operational capabilities, particularly for rapid-response units. This acquisition supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by prioritizing indigenous design and manufacturing, with a minimum requirement of 40% indigenous content. The gun system’s para-droppable capability and compatibility with existing 105 mm ammunition will facilitate deployment in challenging terrains, especially along the India-China and India-Pakistan borders. By investing in this advanced artillery system, India bolsters its defense readiness while striving for self-reliance in military procurements.
