Two advanced warships, Himgiri and Androth, are set to be inducted into the Indian Navy, following successful Contractor Sea Trials (CSTs) conducted by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata. Himgiri, the first of three Project-17A Advanced Frigates, and Androth, designed for anti-submarine warfare, enhance India’s naval capabilities amid regional challenges. These trials assess the vessels’ seaworthiness and compliance with naval standards, marking a significant milestone in India’s shipbuilding efforts. With over 790 platforms delivered, GRSE underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its maritime defense and self-reliance in shipbuilding, crucial for maintaining security in the increasingly complex Indo-Pacific region.
