The Indian Navy is advancing its maritime capabilities by exploring the integration of deck-based Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft into future aircraft carriers, aligned with its Vision 2047 strategy amid increasing regional threats, particularly from China. Current reliance on the Kamo Ka-31 helicopter poses limitations, prompting interest in options like the Northrop Grumman E-2D Hawkeye, known for its extensive radar capabilities, and the Bell- Boeing V-22 Osprey, offering flexibility for different carrier configurations. The suссess of this initiative hinges on the design of the planned third carrier, which could significantly enhance operational range and situational awareness, refleсting India’s сommitment to self-reliance and modernization in defence.
