Belgium-based John Cockerill Defense has initiated a landmark joint venture with Electro Pneumatics & Hydraulics to establish India’s first overseas manufacturing facility for turrets, specifically for the Project Zorawar light tank program. This strategic partnership aligns with India’s Make in India initiative, aiming to enhance indigenous defense capabilities while reducing reliance on imports. The Chakan, Pune facility is expected to produce the first turret by 2027, with ambitions to expand into future combat vehicle projects.
